Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a part of the global zeitgeist ever since it was thrust into the limelight by tech companies releasing free and public versions of generative AI platforms.

The entire world was suddenly awake to the realm of creative possibilities they now had access to.

Soon after, every industry began using AI as a buzzword, promising the sun, moon and stars by having their products be AI-powered. This included everything from toothbrushes to garage doors that operate with the power of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

However, in the home electronics industry, we were keeping step with the big AI companies from the start, developing home appliance products that have actual artificial intelligence integration in ways that solve real-world problems and provide actual conveniences to customers.

We’ve been plugging away diligently, developing solutions that help us better understand and empathise with our customers to provide them with the holistic and integrated experiences that allow them to seamlessly connect their devices with their lives.

The concept of “Affectionate Intelligence” is revolutionising the conventional understanding of AI by focusing on its potential to transform the customer experience paradigm. It is an innovative approach that leverages AI technology to better understand users, delivering more personalised and differentiated experiences.

The idea is to seamlessly integrate AI into physical living spaces, transforming them into environments where holistic experiences materialise.

In these spaces, devices and services come together to create entirely new customer experiences. This vision is realised through three fundamental elements: connected devices, capable AI agents, and integrated services.

The first element, connected devices, serves as the primary touchpoints for AI, allowing users to interact with technology in intuitive ways.

Through collaborative efforts, bringing together the services of smart home solutions providers, we are ensuring that homes are more integrated than ever before.

Secondly, AI agents combine the power of generative AI built on large language models with real-time spatial sensing and insights into customers’ lifestyle patterns. This allows them to understand customers’ contexts in real time, coordinate devices and services, and provide a more personalised user experience.

Thirdly, the integrated services are crucial. The data sets being collected through connected devices and the response of AI agents to user requirements need to be in sync. For customers, the AI-powered services need not intrude on their lives but rather enhance them.

This calls for careful design, testing, and iteration – based on real-time and real-world data – to create and constantly improve products that not only fit their lifestyles but also enhance their experience when handling day-to-day tasks like cooking and laundry.

The integration of AI into homes is transforming daily lives, making it smarter and more intuitive to interact with home appliances. As AI continues to evolve, its potential to revolutionise the way we live and interact with technology is becoming more apparent.
